Governor Bio – Alison Parker

Skills / Experience/Background:

It was an intention of mine to apply to be a governor since my daughter was born. I wish to help to hold the Board and School Leadership Team accountable to improve the outcomes for the children in attendance both now and in the future, at the same time as gain a deeper understanding of how the school is run, and how I can contribute to this with my business experience and keenness to learn. I am now taking on the Pupil Premium role which is a key area for schools to monitor how we are impacting children’s lives and experiences in school and beyond.

I have served on the board of the company I work for 4 years (have been at the firm for almost 16 years), though have recently stepped back from leadership having reduced to part time work. I have helped steer the company through a period of rapid growth and expansion of opening multiple offices while on the board and am able to make the tough decisions – not afraid of a direct conversation if needed! I have also been responsible for delivering many areas of training and development within the business for my fellow Financial Advisors.

By profession and qualification I am a Chartered Financial Planner and strength is in gathering information, and appreciate the bigger picture to understand and contribute as fully as possible. I am also able to take on technical information easily and then share in a more straightforward manner with others. I am wholeheartedly committed to applying the same level of training and learning needed to give my role as parent governor the best of my ability.
