Skills / Experience/Background:

I have always wanted to be part of education and in particular helping children, when I was at school I had an inspirational teacher, Mr Todd. He was the main reason I got into teaching. I studied Early Childhood Studies and Education Studies at University and completed a PGCE in London. Recently I have completed my Masters in Educational Leadership.

Prior to joining Boughton as a Deputy Headteacher I was a staff governor in my previous school. I have been in education for 15 years and part of the Senior Leadership Team at three different schools for the last 10.

When I joined Broughton Junior School I started as a Deputy Headteacher and moved into the headteacher role roughly 5 years ago. I was part of the governing body when we federated the Infant and Junior School together and have been part of the Infant School leadership team for the last 3 years. It is an absolute pleasure to be part of this school community and I love watching the school and education develop to be the very best for the children.

Outside of school I am a foster carer with my wife and our two children, we have been fostering for the last two and a half years and have had two foster children in this time. I enjoy all kind of sports and coach a local under 8’s team on a Saturday and Sunday morning.

I am a big believer that children learn through experiences, through choices they make and through the opportunities they are given. I like to remind the staff that our children only get one opportunity at school and our role is to make this the best opportunity they can have. Along the way we may make mistakes but this is only because we want to do the very best and the federation has definitely helped with this as we all work closer together.
