Governor Bio - Karen Smethurst

Skills / Experience/Background:

I have been a School Governor for many years at this school and previously at another Buckinghamshire Combined School. Over the years I have held various roles and have undertaken the requisite training necessary to undertake them. I thoroughly enjoy my role on the Teaching and Learning Committee and am passionate about pupils outcome, their experience at the school and how the school prepares them for their lives ahead. I live in a village close to Aylesbury with my family. Both my daughters attended state schools in the area and continued their education at University. I grew up in Buckinghamshire, obtained a degree in Politics at Cardiff University before working in the property sector in London. For the last 25 years I have worked with my husband in our family business. My experience in this, particularly in regard to finance and accounts has been invaluable to my membership of the Finance Committee.
